Mission Statement
The Abington Middle / High School Library supports students and faculty by providing a collection of materials, both print and electronic to implement and enrich curriculum and to help ensure students are effective finders, users, and ethical producers of information. The Library also strives to promote reading for pleasure. The Library supports the Technology Department by being the contact point for laptop troubleshooting and repair.
About the Library
The Library's physical collection consists of print resources, including books, magazines and newspapers. The Library also has a collection of DVDs, for teaching and learning, as well as physical audiobooks, downloadable e-books and audiobooks. The Library provides students with online access to databases. The physical Library collection can be accessed through the Destiny catalog. The link is found on the Library webpage.
The library also offers desktop computers and a quiet atmosphere to relax and do work.
Staff and students are encouraged to recommend materials to be added to the library collection. Although the bulk of the materials are ordered in the spring, a materials list is developed throughout the year. We look forward to making purchases that enhance the curriculum and promote reading for pleasure.

The Library is Phone-Free-Zone. Please put your phone away in your backpack while you are here.
Food and drink (other than water) are not allowed in the Library.
Students may borrow a book for three weeks and renew it once if nobody else has placed the book on hold.
Students may borrow 3 books. (5th graders may borrow 2 books at a time.)
When a student borrows a book, they are responsible for caring for this book and the book should be returned in the same condition it was in when the book was checked out. Students should take care while transporting library materials in their backpacks. If a book is returned damaged beyond repair it must be replaced or paid for. We recommend placing library books in a ziplock bag before putting the books into a backpack.
When visiting the Library, students are asked to sign-in on computers at the circulation desk upon arrival, (unless just coming quickly to print, in which case they should be on an in/out ehall pass from their classroom teacher. )
Students need to request an ehall-pass to use the restroom, go to the nurse, main office, guidance, etc.
Please do not leave the Library to go to next period without waiting for the bell to ring.
