LIBRARY AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY LIBRARY AND INFORMATION #910 (Semester) UNLEVELED TECHNOLOGY SERVICES 2.5 CREDITS This course is an opportunity for students to assist the librarian with daily tasks and activities, in addition to technology maintenance, assisting in collection development tasks, library automation and clerical work. Students will be required to work independently on various weekly assignments using information literacy skills and pass in a final project at the end of the term. The interested student must possess basic technology skills and a willingness to work independently. Prerequisite: Completed proposal (available in guidance) submitted to Library/Media Specialist. LIBRARY MEDIA/LIBRARY IT #706 (Semester) UNLEVELED GRADES 10-12 2.5 CREDITS 57 Students enrolled in this course will work collaboratively with the Librarian on projects that require library technology maintenance (computers, printers and copiers, assistance with book displays, automation of library processes and calendar updates). Students will also work independently on various assignments using information literacy skills and pass in a final project at the end of the term. Students will be instrumental in helping the librarian collect laptop data and resolve laptop issues reported to the Library/Media Center (LMC) by helping peers fill out appropriate forms and distribute loaner laptops. Students will reshelve books and help students visiting the library with readers advisory. Students will help with book displays and various events that take place in the Library during the school year. They will learn database platforms and help promote database usage to fellow students. The will help market the Library program. They will be required to think critically and creatively and develop organizational skills as well as time management by working on multiple ongoing projects assigned by the librarian. Library Media/Library IT will be limited to four students per semester. Library/Media Teacher and Principal approval required
