Extracurricular Activities (Holiday Bootcamp)
When I first met Yahaya Salisu, he struck me as agile but unusually quiet. In conversations, I realized he wasn’t quiet by nature he only became reserved when teachers or others he saw as superiors were around. Beneath that silence, I sensed potential, though I couldn’t yet tell where his strengths lay.
That changed when we introduced the Friday Trainings and Holiday Bootcamps (Extracurricular Activities) at Access Bank Fifth Chukker School, designed to give students opportunities beyond the classroom. Yahaya embraced the activities with surprising enthusiasm, excelling in athletics, chess, and basketball. With every session, his confidence grew. It soon became clear that all he needed was the right platform to showcase and develop his talent.
Today, Yahaya is not only the school’s best athletics student in the boys’ category but also its top chess player. Once a quiet observer, he now stands out among his peers as a leader and role model. His story reflects what we’ve seen across the school: many students carry untapped potential that only needs to be identified and nurtured. We recently concluded a two-week Holiday Bootcamp from 4th to 15th August 2025, and Yahaya’s transformation is just one example of how extracurricular activities can unlock hidden strengths.
