Detska Gradina Svetulka

Kindergarten Svetulka is located in the largest residential district in Shumen – the tenth largest city in Bulgaria.30% of children in Kindergarten Svetulka are from minority families and financially disadvantaged families. Shumen is a regional center, but there is a high level of unemployment. "We bring light to the future of children" is motto of kindergarten Svetulka.Kindergarten Svetulka is a safe, open, democratic pre-school which provides quality education, educates the citizens, fosters ethnic traditions, applies the acquired knowledge and competencies in a changing society. The scool facilitates children in self-expression needs, development of their art talent, health promoting environment and improves the provision of lifelong learning. The children are aged 2 to 7.The kindergarten has got 348 pupils in number, divided into 16 groups according to their age and 31 teachers who are high qualified and motivated and 28 staff members. Kindergarten Svetulka is experienced in Erasmus projects and also in E-twinning projects.It has many National (NQL) and European quality labels (EQL).The director of the kindergarten participated in the Annual E-twinning conference in Malta in 2017 where she gained new contacts with colleagues from Europe and Europe +. They will be indirect participants in our project because we will share all the results and activities of the project. Kindergarten Svetulka is experienced in teaching basic skills and horizontal skills using different methos such as drama, Montessori, collaborative learning and action. Our school is motivated to learn more about good practices around Europe to enhance its competences in teaching basic skills. The key people in this project will be Nadezhda Mincheva, Yuliana Dimitrova and Iliana Panteleeva.They constitute the project steering team in our school. Most of our staff have taken part in Erasmus projects.In case some of these persons leave their post other staff members who are already working in the project will take over their role. Kindergarten Svetulka is experienced in teaching basic skills using drama and creativity activities as methods. We have been operating a workshop for children's talents for seven years.The kindergarten staff has expertise in popular forms of theatre and drama such as Puppet Theatre, Shadow Theatre, Pantomime and Musicals.The Kindergarten also maintains very serious contacts with the dramatic-puppet theatre “Vasil Drumev” in Shumen. This theatre is the first theatre in Bulgaria and one of the first theatres in Europe. Drama lecturers will be attracted by the composition of this project to train the project partners.Kindergarten Svetulka will be responsible in training participants on teaching basic and horizontal skills using drama as a method in a Learning Teaching Training Activity in Bulgaria and will be responsible in monitoring the events and planned actions including drama activities.
