Business Model

Loqui will offer two separate “metaverses”: freemium and premium. The freemium metaverse will be free to join and play without limit. However, all other players in the freemium metaverse will be AI or “computer” players. The user will have the ability to enable various paid services and add-on features, such as: avatar customization, new locations and language learning scenarios, and gifts (e.g. presents for their virtual significant other). Furthermore, a long term vision may include establishing strategic partnerships to introduce popular TV and movie characters into the metaverse.

Upon paying the subscription fee, the user will be able to transfer their virtual character to the premium metaverse. The key difference in this virtual environment is that it is populated with both AI and real-life players; the ratio of AI to human players will adjust automatically. The user will have access to all AI learning scenarios in the premium metaverse, but will also be able to make make actual connections with other human players learning the same language. Furthermore, in this environment, the speech recognition engine would prevent the user from speaking in their native language. Avatar customizations and gifts will remain a paid feature in the premium metaverse. At its maturity, users may also use this immersive environment as an opportunity to provide free or paid language exchange services (i.e. a language service marketplace).
