Friday October 24th, 2025: Day in the Life of a SOC Analyst Training
Participated in a hands-on “Day in the Life of a SOC Analyst” training hosted by Central Ohio ISSA, focused on real-world security operations and modern threat landscapes. The training covered advanced threat hunting techniques, SOAR automation, cloud security concepts, and LLM vulnerabilities aligned with the OWASP Top 10 for LLM Applications. Through live demonstrations and expert panel discussions, I gained practical insight into SOC workflows, incident response processes, and analyst decision-making in operational environments. I also earned first place in the Capture the Flag (CTF) challenge, successfully applying learned concepts in a timed, competitive setting to identify and solve security challenges.
Thursday December 19th, 2024: Exabeam CTF
I attended the Exabeam CTF in December in the newly constructed Tolles cybersecurity lab. Firstly, this lab was super-developed with all the processors and computer equipment. There are two sides, "red team" and "blue team," reinforcing the sides of cybersecurity teams. Walking through the Exabeam platform and looking for flags was fun since there was a good variety of them. My favorite part was going through different incident logs and timelines. Overall. I had a great time and look forward to participating in more events like this!
Friday April 18th, 2024: Upper Arlington/Nationwide Hackathon
In April 2024 I was lucky to attend the Upper Arlington/Nationwide Hackathon! I participated in the Generative AI Experience as well as the CyberCTF Contest. I placed in the top 5 in the CTF Contest and was thrilled to represent Dublin Jerome High School in this competition. It was also exciting to win some other activities and games!
