Strategies for Recruiting and Retaining Librarians of Color - March 12 at 2:00 pm

Recruiting a diverse workforce has been a stated challenge in libraries for years. The African American Medical Librarians Alliance Caucus invites individuals who are interested in learning practical strategies for recruiting and retaining a diverse workforce to our March 2020 Webinar. This webinar features a panel of librarians of color who will share strategies for recruiting and retaining librarians of color in health sciences and medical librarianship. Tamara Nelson will focus on direct strategies to recruit librarians of color that go beyond just simply posting the position. Ms. Nelson will discuss ways to be proactive and intentional in recruiting.Tawanna Hodge will discuss the recruitment process for residencies and fellowships and recruitment strategies for early career Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC). Alan R. Bailey will discuss how libraries can cultivate environments that foster the success of librarians from diverse populations on the recruitment to promotion continuum.
