National Hill Climb

At the national hill climb held on the Haytor climb in Devon, A5's evergreen veteran Murray Kirton won an award in the 75 to 79 years category with a time of 26'52''. Winner was Ed Laverack of Swiftcarbonprocycling in 11'37'' - a new course record. "A lot steeper than I thought it would be " gasped Murray.

The 10 miler at Greens Norton drew a field of 6 riders on a fine and dry evening. Thanks to Murray, Kyle and Janet for running the show.

Wunderkinder Joel Corbishley was quickest with a blistering 23’47’’ and A5 2nd claimer Jack Pinchin 2nd with 24’30’’. First A5er home was the ‘’Blisworth Blur’’ Ashley Gardner in a tasty 27’05’’. Two guest riders followed in Mark Halliday in 28’01’’ and Giorgios Markitanis in 30’08’’ with A5 veteran Duncan White lolloping round in 30’56’’ “ I lost a couple of minutes in Blakesley “ said Duncan .”The WI in the village were holding a bake sale on the green and I stopped to buy some flapjack for the ride home.” Ashley got round without animal mishap-“Did you see the sheep on the road near Maidford?....A couple of pheasants too !”……The racing continues at Whittlebury next week…..Duncan White.
