Historic Entries 2019
78 miles into the last Social Century of the summer at Harrold Odell country park. A brisk wind was tempered with some wonderful late summer sunshine. Chapeau to Steve for completing his first Century in fantastic style - and showing that it is never too late (in the year) to knock out a hundred mile ride.
Tuesday Rides - 2019
The series of Tuesday rides run over the summer months has now come to an end. However I plan to
continue these over the autumn / winter / spring period in a more ad-hoc manner.
To this end I have created a WhatsApp group that can be used to request a Tuesday Ride. The idea
being that if anyone would like a Tuesday ride to take place they can send a request to the
WhatsApp group and I will then arrange a ride and post the details on the club website diary.
If you are interested in riding on Tuesdays and would like to be added to the “A5 Rangers Tuesday
Rides” WhatsApp group please email your name and mobile phone number to membership [dot]
secretary [at] a5rangerscyclingclub [dot] org [dot] uk (link).
Any ad-hoc Tuesday rides will depart from the club room car park at 10 am and return by 2 pm. The
rides will be approximately 40 miles in length with a cafe stop around the half way mark. Expected
pace 13 - 14 mph, but actual pace will depend on who turns up. No-one will be dropped and these
rides are intended to be sociable rather than "training" rides.
Organising rides generally
It may be an idea to have a WhatsApp group for club members to arrange rides, request a ride at a particular speed or on a day other than Saturday. I am happy to set this up, as Tim has above, pls email (link here) with name and mobile phone if you would like to be included.
Ride sharing
To encourage cycling generally the club operates a ride sharing scheme. Anyone can post a ride on our open database using the ride sharing form which is open to the public to view and to join a ride if they wish.
Club members who ride in organised rides with at least two people will also gain club points and their ride will be added to the club diary if possible.
Ride forms and the Club rides spreadsheet are both accessible via down arrow on Rides link above
