Stagecoach Zones get bigger from Sunday 2nd June 2024

It makes sense! The North East Fife Stagecoach Ticket Zone is expanding to include Leven and Glenrothes, so it will be as cheap to travel to Leven to catch the train as it is to travel to Leuchars or Dundee.

The new travel zone boundaries match the ABC Dundee & East Fife Zone boundary - something which again makes some sense.

The adult day ticket price stays the same at £8.50.

Other Stagecoach Zones are getting bigger at the same time - for more details see: https://www.stagecoachbus.com/service-updates/serviceupdatesarticle?SituationId=ID-27/05/2024-15:16:21:201

95 Sunday timetables change to meet trains in Leven

Stagecoach have published new timetables for a number of buses to help them meet trains at Leven Railway Station.

The full details are at: https://www.stagecoachbus.com/service-updates/serviceupdatesarticle?SituationId=ID-23/05/2024-10:41:58:948

At the moment only the Sunday timetable is changing on the 95 with buses during the main part of the day departing Leven 20 minutes later at 35 minutes past the hour - passing through Crail at 40 minutes past the hour on their way to St Andrews. Also the journey of the last bus from Leven on Sunday is extended to run as far as Cellardyke.

As a consequence (because the incoming bus hasn't arrived in time) the Sunday 18:50 departure from St Andrews is retimed to depart at 19:10 - otherwise all journeys starting in St Andrews run at the same times as they did before.

This change does mean that there are a couple of gaps in the Sunday services of over 90 minutes...

The Stagecoach announcement says the new timetable starts on Monday 3rd June - but the new train service starts on Sunday 2nd June. Timetable details on TravelineScotland confirm that the bus timetable changes don't happen until Sunday 9th June.

Further timetable changes are planned on the 95 from Monday, July 29, which will see the Monday to Sunday evening journeys amended to reflect bus rail connections as well as new early morning journeys introduced.

There are also changes to the Moffat & Williamson buses around Leven from Monday 3rd June and there are more details of these on the Fife Council website at: https://www.travelfife.com/travel-fife/news/articles/bus-service-changes-monday-3rd-june

Meanwhile we are still campaigning for a general subsidy to bus fares - as is happening throughout England at the moment - our aim is for an All Fife, All Day, All Operators ticket priced at £5 - for more of our campaigns see: Making bus journeys better.

Tay Bridge contraflow for 6 months...

Roadworks are replacing the surface of the southbound carriageway of the Tay Road Bridge and traffic in both directions is following a contraflow on the normally northbound carriageway.

This means there is a diversion for traffic from Tayport or Newport wanting to cross the Tay that will take vehicles via the Forgan roundabout. (This affects some bus routes, such as the 42A from St Andrews to Dundee.)

There may be some queueing where traffic merges from 2 lanes into 1 and consequently delays crossing the bridge.
