22 SAS is an integrated part of the United Kingdom Special Forces (UKSF). Comprised of four Sabre Squadrons, operating at the strategic and tactical levels. They operate in difficult and often changing circumstances, where the requirement for maturity and sound judgement is paramount. In this case, it is an ARMA 3 Unit that Operates at a Semi-Serious Level while ensuring Immersion and the Player Experience is maintained throughout.

Applying for 8 Troop

8 Troop processes all applications regardless of experience level. You will be interviewed and screened before receiving an invite to attempt UKSF Selection.

Applicants must commit to a 5-step Selection Process that will provide training on the essential skills required to attach and deploy overseas during Operations.

Selection Stage 1: Application and Introductory Briefing

Candidates will submit an application in the 8 Troop Discord, if accepted, you will proceed into a short interview and introductory briefing by a member of the Instruction Staff, this will give you the understanding before you commit to Selection. You will be placed in a holdover with other candidates and later be given a selection date if you wish to proceed.

Selection Stage 2: Aptitude "Hills" Phase

This is a foundation phase to give all candidates a fair starting point that will include training in the Medical and Navigation systems the unit uses in operations. It is advised to have a baseline understanding of ACE before attending. You will be trained in Land Navigation and Route Planning alongside Basic Life Saving Medical Aid, Intelligence Processing and Understanding to then end the Phase with a controlled Hostage Rescue exercise to give you a taste of what's to come.

Selection Stage 3: Jungle & SERE Phase

If successful on passing the Aptitude Phase, candidates will proceed into Jungle Survival and SERE Training, learning how to apply SERE (Survive, Evade, Resist, Escape) alongside operating with limited equipment. This phase will focus on reconnaissance and planning strikes in an environment with intelligence that is entirely gathered by the selection group. An immersive Tactical Questioning Exercise (TQE) will be conducted at the end which candidates must pass to proceed on with selection.

Selection Stage 4: Troop Trade Training

The Troop Trade Training (3T) is the refinement period in Selection, where candidates will undergo specialised training in common methods of operation by the Special Air Service (SAS), ranging from Air Assault & Jump School to CQB (Close Quarters Battle) and Role-Specific Training.

Selection Stage 5: Exercise STRETCH

Exercise STRETCH is the final session of Selection and is a test of all of the skills developed by the candidates, it is designed to test and overall give the selection group the opportunity to present their skills to the Instruction Staff. Upon completing the exercise, candidates are officially badged and enter the probationary period in-unit. This includes further role-specific training and optional modules that could allow the now-members of the unit the chance to further develop and expand their capabilities.
