Day 3
Duffbeard:
"Maybe we can, I dunno, not kill him?
I know its crazy talk, but I think he could be useful"
Day 3
Vikkyyy is the first to rise this morning. With little memory of the night before; checks her hamster and creeps out of the cave. beyond some dense foliage is a road with several dozen carts queued waiting for something. After a failed attempt to woo a farmer and his son she makes her way back into the cave and wakes her compatriots.
There are 2 things on everyone's minds, 1: Rocco, and 2:the letter. After much discussion and examination of the seal on the letter, Lance unceremoniously opens it releasing a stored fireball spell and scorching everyone in the cave (Vikkyyy happened to be outside debating on whether or not to take another swing at the farmer and as a result escaped immolation). Once everyone recovers from their brush with death Lance gets a look at the envelopes contents to discover the letter is written in invisible ink.
Injured and with no leads the party leaves the cave and learns they are outside High Rocks walls, they have discovered a secret entrance into the city. They head to The Last Knight Inn hoping to find Rocco or information leading to his whereabouts.
Inside the inn the find one of the bandits from the cave and Azazel sets about interrogating him. He learns the "bandits" are actually thieves guild employees and that they only know Rocco went back into the city via some other means. Duffbeard persuades the low level guild member (Timmy) to cover for the party and blame the death of his leader of some passing bandits he and Azazel set him up as an informant.
The Gates to the City open and some conveniently expositional guards announce that the thief of the Egg was a Goblin and that he was captured immediately after the incident. The party having directly involved in the heist know this to be a cover up and decide to visit the Goblin family of Haggle and Swindle, owners of the "Kings Pawn"
Haggle confirms that the "Goblin" that was paraded through the streets was a wooden puppet, but has no information about he whereabouts of Rocco. MacCrinkgle asks the Haggle to take a look at the letter from the thieves guild and he provides a paste that can make the page readable. the party buys the paste and is able to read the letter
"Padre Don,
Rocco has betrayed us and stolen the egg. I trust these 6 to help us bring him to justice... Unless of course they break the seal to the letter.
Oink,
Padre Perchbourne"
With noted objections from Kasaga, the party decides honesty is the best policy and heads to see Padre Don at the Church of Bon Sw and explain what happened, nominating Lance to do the talking. Padre Don is delighted to see young Lance Hammerbush and excuses the recklessness of opening the letter as actions expected of an entitled Hammerbush. Lance explains they are looking for Rocco and Padre Don tells him to talk to Garnet at "Aren's Rest". Lance thanks him and promises to send a cask of their finest Amontillado, he also clues the Padre into the new fashion trend that he is starting: Singed-Popped Collars!
The stop at Aren's Rest is brief but yields important information. Vikkyyy was able to get Garnet to disclose that Rocco was recently there asking how to destroy a dragon's egg, and he while he was there he stunk like the sewer. Azazel independently confirmed Rocco was recently in Aren's Rest by talking to the waitress.
The party realizes there are nearby sewers that run under the arena and dive under the bridge to find an entrance. Along a service walkway Azazel finds a used spell scroll and MacCrinkgle determines it was the "light" spell and that it was used recently. The Party attempts to track Rocco through the sewers and stumbles upon 5 ghouls. Azazel and Vikkyyy take on 2 down a side tunnel, while the rest of the Party deal with the 3 at the main line. The party sustains some minor injuries and prepares to continue their search for Rocco.
New Person/Item/Pet:
Timmy: Your inside man! Both because he will let you into the city through the "Foundation" tunnels and because he is now an underpaid mole in the thieves guild.
Day 2-Night 2
Vykkiii:
"I've never seen a hole I didn't immediately want to get in"
Day 2
Session 2 picks up with the group fleeing from reinforcements. They arrive at a Hobo camp and are ushered towards a pile of firewood with a hidden chamber below it for hiding contraband. The party was initially skeptical when Vykkiii was pushed into the hole by a particularly disfigured hobo named Cricket. When no screams came from the bottom of the pit, the party followed after her. Azazel, ever skeptical, brought up the rear and was handed 6 brown robes for them to put on.
After the guards ransacked the camp looking for you the local Padre called you up out of the hole. he encouraged you to look around the camp and speak with him at dinner. Most of you helped rebuild the town or used your talents to uplift the residents. In the early evening the Padre served a hearty stew to the residents that bolstered your spirits fortified your bodies. The Padre explained his suspicious that Rocco was acting alone against the thieves guild and that you were caught up in the middle of it. He passed you a sealed letter and asked you to deliver it to Padre Don at the Church of Bon SW using the secret tunnels in the "Foundation" under the Aqueduct. You left at midnight.
Night 2
The guard that was supposed to guide you through the tunnels was missing and blood was splattered down the hallway leading to a locked gate. Undeterred Vykkiii lead the way through the tunnel, lighting spiderwebs to illuminate a path along the way. Some understandably upset spiders took offense at this and attacked the party. Kasaga and Duffbeard took down the spiders but sustained several injuries during the fight. Azazel started picking the lock with Lance and MacCringle searched for the key in a rats den. As these things always go, Azazel picked the lock just as the last rat fell and the key was found. The party was able to proceed into the underground passages.
The directions given to the party by the Padre to get to the Church of Bon Sw called for them to turn right once they hit the tunnels, however bloody footprints, assumed to belong to Rocco, turned left. The party decided to tail Rocco and headed down the tunnels to the south. Eventually they came to a group of bandits camped out in the tunnel exit. The party snuck close enough to hear the bandits mention Rocco and launched into action.
The bandits spellcaster opened with a strong ice attack taking down much of the party, the henchmen followed suit and took down most of the remaining party. Duffbeard and MacCringle pushed forward towards the caster attacking him and causing a distraction while Lance Hammerbush rallied from near death and dealt a devastating final blow to the leader of the bandits causing the henchmen to scatter. Lance rallied the rest of the party and they enjoyed the now abandoned camp left by the bandits.
New Person/Item/Pet:
Letter to Padre Don: The Padre at the Hobo camp in the south east side of the "Trough" gave you a sealed letter to be delivered to Padre Don at the Church of Bon Sw.
Day 1-2
A Broken and Defeated Man:
"Well, they are either going warn the parade in hopes of a reward, or help with the robbery...
...I mean what other choice do they have"
Night 1
Our new campaign opened in the bar of the very busy "Last Knight Inn".
A lone fighter, Duffbeard, quietly tried to enjoy his ale, while across the bar Lance Hammerbush talked loudly about the importance of of his importance. Vykkiii made the rounds from table to table searching for anyone looking to have a good time and soon found it with two disruptive Italian caricatures having a heated argument with the quite large half gnome, Kringle, a over what appeared by all accounts to be a very disinterested cat.
While the walking stereotypes tried to steal Kringle's cat, sneaky Azazel tried to trip and retrieve the it before the situation could escalate. Sadly it was not to be and eventually everyone involved ended up thrown out of the bar. That is of course not before our "heroes" in no particular order:
Tied a thieves guild members shoes together
Jumped over a table and shot ice into the ceiling
Used an oversized "meat tenderizer" irresponsibly
Used an arrow without a tip to aggressively poke someone
Squealed with joy at the thought of a bar fight and began pummeling people
As it turns out this was a job offer by the thieves guild. Impressed with the "gusto" the situation was handled Rocco offered some gold(Notes) and a chit for a favor from the thieves guild if you would distract the guards during the parade the following day. Either through need of money, or boredom you all accepted the gig. While the majority of the group laid plans for tomorrow, Vykkiii attempted to regain access to the Inn. After failing to convince a dire wolf that it really just wanted scritches she resigned to planning with the group. Meanwhile, Kasaga viewed these happening from the shadows and got to enjoy his ale and rest indoors that evening
Day 2
The group certainly put on the distraction you were hired to. It started as feigned fight in the middle of the street, but as soon as Rocco stole a mysterious white egg from the main float the group decided to turn against him and steal the egg for themselves. The Palace and Temple guards did not appreciate the well armed individuals that were rushing towards the float and dug in to defend it. Many lost their lives during the fight, almost including Vykkiii who was saved by Lance.
Despite your best efforts Rocco managed to duck into an underground passage and escape. With Rocco aware you double crossed him and having angered the Temple by killing several guards you decided to flee into one of the homeless camps in the Trough, hoping that you could elude the next wave of guards.
The last to flee was Azazel, he had managed to sneak onto the high priests float where he stared the wizard in the eyes and proclaimed "remember me"...
New Person/Item/Pet:
Thieves guild chit: You received a chit as payment for your distraction. It was suggested you can redeem it via a donation at the temple of Bon Sw (bon sue) found in the western section of the Trough
