Established in 1974 under General Order 127, the 1st Battalion (Ranger), 75th Infantry, marked the inception of the 75th Ranger Regiment, following the directive of General Creighton Abrams. After intensive training at Fort Moore, Ga., the battalion parachuted into Fort Stewart, Ga., before relocating to Hunter Army Airfield in 1978. The regiment's operational debut occurred in 1980 during the Iranian hostage crisis, where they laid the groundwork for modern special operations tactics. Over the years, Rangers have been pivotal in various conflicts, from Grenada in 1983 to Operation Just Cause in Panama in 1989, and deployments to Saudi Arabia for Operation Desert Storm in 1991. Since then, they have been deployed repeatedly in support of global operations, including Afghanistan and Iraq, showcasing their enduring commitment to national security.
