Mesopotamia
Hello, and welcome to the world of Mesopotamia! On this website you will learn about the many civilizations, cultures, and inventions of Mesopotamia. Some of the things they have made are still used today! Have you ever been in a car? Well, thank the Mesopotamians, they invented the wheel.
Why is Mesopotamia called what it is? The word Mesopotamia means "between the rivers" in greek. Hint to why one of it's nicknames is "Land Between The Rivers." Another one of Mesopotamia's well-known nicknames is "Cradle Of Civilization," Mesopotamia is called this because it was home to the first form of writing ever discovered. Another reason to why it is called "Cradle Of Civilization" is because they also invented the first form of agriculture.
Mesopotamia was located in the area around the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers. Both rivers flow out of the Taurus Mountains and eventually, they arrive at the Persian Gulf. To the east, Mesopotamia is bordered by the zagros mountains. (SW)
