Godly wisdom is knowing what God says is true and right and trusting him to help us do it. Proverbs is a book in the bible that is a wisdom book. It helps us learn how to live God's way. It's important to remember that wisdom comes from God. We see this in Proverbs 9:10:
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight.
The fear of the Lord means we understand how powerful God is, more powerful and amazing than anything else in the world. Fear of God means we adore God, and love God, and trust God. It leads us to obey him because he is so good!
The first step to being wise is to know God. Proverbs 3:5-6 says:
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
Even when we know the right thing, we don't always do it. We disobey, we choose our own way instead of God's way. We sin. God knew we needed help, so he sent Jesus. Jesus always chose what was right and true and he always trusted God perfectly. Because of Jesus we can be forgiven, we can be close to God and we can ask God to help us grow in wisdom.
