BBS Bersenbrück producing spit protection masks

"Erasmus makes it possible"

Bersenbruck,

The BBS Bersenbrück in “corona” times offers help beyond the narrow regional boundaries. BBS teacher Michael Geschwinde heard about the private initiative "Vechta against Corona". This is about bringing not only companies, but also private individuals and other institutions on board for the production of protective masks for doctors and medical personnel.

As part of the above initiative, Michael Geschwinde came up quickly with the idea of using the mini 3D printers, acquired from the European Erasmus + funding program, for the production of spit protection masks. The school management immediately gave the go-ahead, even for the relocation of the small printers. Since then he has been producing the coveted masks at home in his hobby cellar and has since been able to send the first box. His comment on production capacity: "With a daily production of 12 pieces, we cannot produce for mass consumption, but we can make a small contribution to coping with the crisis."

He added that Erasmus made this action possible. A regional initiative has a European dimension in the best sense.

In the midst of this global pandemic flu COVID-19, and since we were informed about the creation of a Greek voluntary public group called "Hellas COVID19 3DPrinting Supplies" (https://www.facebook.com/groups/28660158622 ), our school became a member of this group (currently having about 2500 members). The above initiative aims at producing 3D printed personal protective equipment for the pandemic, providing them to the Ministry of Health in order for them to be distributed wherever needed. We have made use of the 3D printer that was acquired from the European Erasmus + “3D Pinter, technology for the future” fundin gprogram, producing parts of these personal protective equipment (headband /Prusa version) and helping society deal with the threat. As we Greeks say: “a tiny -tiny stone on the building wall”, the wall against coronavirus…
