In the beginning of the checks I believe he and his wife are having a baby. This conclusion came from the checks at a baby shop, hospital, and to a Dr because he then changes his name from Lawrence Exeter to Lawrence Exeter Sr. Leading me to believe they had their baby when he changed his name to Sr.
As the kid grows they take him to Joyland enroll him in a school for boys, buy him a bike, later on 6 years later enroll him in military school after 6 years they buy him a used car and take it to the shop to make sure everything is good with it. They bought the car as a gift for getting into Stanford University where they make a check for tuition that same year.
Lawrence then takes a vacation to France from June 9 to Aug 23, 1923.
They throw a Halloween renaissance party in 1926 at Riviera heights and their son plans to get engaged to his wife so they buy him a diamond to give her on November 13, 1926.
On Nov 21 they gave him money to pay for the wedding then the son starts to write some checks during his honeymoon in Paris and go on some more adventures through the year but on Nov 14, 1930 they start making checks to a law firm then to Mrs Lawrence JR I assume they got divorced.
Lawrence Senior goes to the hospital July 5th but shortly passes away on the July 16.
1 The questions that parents face as they raise children from infants to adult life are not easy to answer. Both father and mother can become concerned when health problems such as colds arise any time after the elementary stage to later life. Experts recommend that young children should have plenty of shots and nutritious food for healthy growth. Boys and girls should not share the same bed or even sleep in the same room. They may be afraid of the dark.
2.In the early 1860’s Abraham issued the Emancipation Aproclimation. This order freed millions of slaves. The Cops had the authority to enforce the order. Emancipation alone did not give former slaves a new life. Decades of economic hardship and equal rights continued. Abraham plan was supported by many Republicans.
What do you think are the implications of schema for your own teaching and learning?
I believe this is a good way to really see students thoughts process and understand their way of thinking and understand their meaning to the text. When I filled in the missing words then say what it actually was I laughed and realized how perception puts a perspective on things like this.
How would you approach this topic as a teacher with upper elementary and middle schoolers?
I would first share my experiences with racism and how it made me fell then I would ask my students if they have ever encountered this before and what they think of the racism that is happening around us and how we should handle it. I would try to use examples from present day to show how current this issue still is.
Where in the curriculum could you make connections?
In the curriculum I would make connections in an essay about diversity in our nation. I would have my students find a current article that deals with racial bias and have them do a reflection on it.
Reflecting on your own level of comfort, think about how you will stay engaged when topic of race presents itself?
My level of comfort is I am very comfortable talking about race/racism. To stay engaged in the conversation in the classroom I will stay engaged in the discussion and use the strategy steps in doing so.
What tools can you use in facilitating difficult conversations with your students ?
I like the Strategy tool for facilitating difficult conversations and I would also like to address strong emotions during these difficult conversations using the First to Five strategy to check in.
I see where his idea of racism still being an issue because we never really dealt with slavery but I believe racism is a deeper cause from how our parents raise us to being afraid of what's different if racism was only still around because we never dealt with slavery it still would not explain why we have bias towards gays and anybody that's different than we are. I do believe we should discuss slavery and really have a conversation about how the United states was founded instead of covering anything that makes us look bad out of our textbooks.
