As part of your service to the school community, 2nd grade families have the option to assist with morning/afternoon carpool duties during the school year.
2nd-grade parents are responsible for traffic safety monitoring (carpool duty) for the lower/Walnut Hill carpool lane during both the morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up of students.
6th-grade parents are responsible for traffic safety monitoring (carpool duty) for the upper/Ferndale/Main school entrance carpool lane during both the morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up of students.
This Sign-Up Genius is for both grades/carpool duty (here is the link for SPRING: Sign Up Genius - Carpool).
To fulfill this important role, each family will need to serve 10 shifts (per child) over the course of the school year – 5 shifts in the Fall and 5 in the Spring. Be sure to only sign up for your child's class slots, 2nd or 6th grade.
You must be Safe Environment cleared and can also designate any Safe Environment cleared adult—a grandparent, aunt, babysitter, etc.—to serve in your family's shift, as long as the shift is fulfilled.)

The shift times are as follows:
Morning Shifts are 7:30-8:00 AM – Please arrive by 7:25 and sign in using the QR Code. Morning shifts have no set-up or take-down responsibilities.
Afternoon Shifts are 2:45-3:45 PM* – Please arrive by 2:40 and sign in using the QR Code. Afternoon shifts have no set-up responsibilities. Afternoon shifts take-down responsibilities – upstairs only.
On early release days (when school ends at Noon), the Afternoon shift is 11:25 AM-12:20 PM
To be counted for your shift, you MUST sign in with the "Carpool Duty Volunteer" QR Code upon your arrival. The QR code will be posted on the window of the cafeteria doors (lower carpool for 2nd-grade volunteers) and front-of-school far left window (upper carpool for 6th grade).
The "Carpool Duty Volunteer" QR Code form available at the school is different from this SUG and is the only way for the SPS front office to know you completed your commitment, so be sure to fill it out before each volunteer shift. And remember the office will charge you $20 for a no-show, so if something comes up last minute, please call the front office 214-348-8070. The SUG is set up to send a reminder two days before, so be on the lookout for your email.
