Deuteronomy 11:1-7
Love and Obey the LORD
1 Love the Lord your God and keep his requirements, his decrees, his laws and his commands always. 2 Remember today that your children were not the ones who saw and experienced the discipline of the Lord your God: his majesty, his mighty hand, his outstretched arm; 3 the signs he performed and the things he did in the heart of Egypt, both to Pharaoh king of Egypt and to his whole country; 4 what he did to the Egyptian army, to its horses and chariots, how he overwhelmed them with the waters of the Red Sea as they were pursuing you, and how the Lord brought lasting ruin on them. 5 It was not your children who saw what he did for you in the wilderness until you arrived at this place, 6 and what he did to Dathan and Abiram, sons of Eliab the Reubenite, when the earth opened its mouth right in the middle of all Israel and swallowed them up with their households, their tents and every living thing that belonged to them. 7 But it was your own eyes that saw all these great things the Lord has done.
2 Corinthians 6:14-15
Be Yoked with Believers
14 Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? 15 What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? Or what does a believer have in common with an unbeliever?
If we do not regularly read God's Word, we can drift from God...We need to keep our focus on the good, the positive, and the love...And we need to be forgiving...What we focus on, we remember...So focus on the good, and let go of those things we need forgiven for, ask for forgiveness and then move on...
C. S. Lewis said, “Remember He is the artist and you are only the picture...You can’t see it...So quietly submit to be painted—i.e., keep fulfilling all the obvious duties of your station (you really know quite well enough what they are!), asking forgiveness for each failure and then leaving it alone...You are in the right way...Walk—don’t keep on looking at it.”...
This is not easy and we must do these things each and everyday...Some of our thoughts need to be cemented in our minds...For each day we can gradually drift from them...So there is good reasons why we must regularly read Scripture and be yoked to believers...
We don’t just one day wake up and are completely out of faith...C. S. Lewis said, “If you examined a hundred people who had lost their faith in Christianity, I wonder how many of them would turn out to have reasoned out of it by honest argument?...Do not most people simply drift away?”...Lewis adds “Relying on God has to begin all over again every day as if nothing had yet been done.”...
