Psalm 31:12
My Body is Broken
12 I am forgotten as though I were dead;
I have become like broken pottery.
2 Corinthians 4:7-12
Bodies Like Jars of Clay
7 But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. 8 We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; 9persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. 10 We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. 11 For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that his life may also be revealed in our mortal body. 12 So then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you.
2 Corinthians 12:7-10
When I Am Weak, Then I Am Strong
7 To keep me from becoming conceited because of these surpassingly great revelations, there was given me a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. 8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. 9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
1 Corinthians 1:27-31
When You Feel Lowly and Weak
27 But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 28 God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, 29 so that no one may boast before him. 30 It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption.31 Therefore, as it is written: “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.”
God sees things differently than us...He chose probably the greatest King of Israel to be King David...He did not look like a King or military leader, but God chose him to slay Goliath...God sees things that we cannot see...He can hear things we cannot hear...He can do things we cannot do...Nothing is impossible for God (Luke 1:37)...
St. Paul tells us our bodies are like jars of clay...Many, many years centuries ago, the great King David wrote that his body was like pottery...He felt like broken pottery...The human body is fragile...As we age, we become weaker and even more fragile...We get arthritis, stiffness, sore joints, lose muscle mass in this process we call aging...As we age, we must remember to let go of the feelings of weakness and not ponder on them...We must not let those weak moments consume us and our thoughts, even though we are feeling and getting weaker as we age...God gave us a Son to focus on, and learn from...
Our bodies are not permanent things...We grow old...Our souls are eternal...We have an energy in our bodies that can live forever...It is a Spirit...God gave our time ridden bodies a Spirit...A Spirit to live on...A Spirit to keep in touch with Him...A Spirit to connect to the Son, which is our way to heaven...His Son is also our way to Him...It is the Only Way to His Father...
St. Paul learned over the course of his life that when he was weak, then he was strong...He learned that God chose the weak things of this world, the things that the strong willed man and others despised to show those people who are proud, arrogant, and strong another Way...God shows us the Way, the Truth, and Life itself...He shows everyone the weakness of the cross...But in the weakness of the things in this world, and in the suffering of this world, the cross shows us the wisdom of God...For the weak, and the last, shall be first to the kingdom of God...So if anyone must boast on earth, we must forget about our own personal strengths and pride and boast of the weak things...Let us boast unto the LORD...
