It is celebrated in the United States every year on the third Saturday in October. The history of the holiday began in 1922 in Cleveland, Ohio. Herbert Kingston, a confectionery worker, wanted to help the poor and orphans. Together with his friends, he arranged the distribution of sweet treats to the disadvantaged in order to at least provide support to the hungry.
The idea of the Sweets Day holiday was supported by many movie stars. Famous movie star Anna Pennington took part in the celebration of the first Sweets Day, who presented sweet gifts to 2,200 boys who had worked as newspaper carriers from an early age.
On the same day, the famous actress Teda Bara presented 10 thousand boxes of chocolates to hospital patients and all viewers who came to her film at the Cleveland cinema.
Sweets Day was originally celebrated mainly in the central and western regions of the United States, and in the past few years, the tradition of giving sweets to kids has spread throughout America.
It is on Sweets Day in the homeland of the holiday (Ohio) that an incredibly high level of sales of all kinds of sweets is observed. The top ten sales of sweet products include California, Michigan, Florida, Illinois, and others.
On this holiday, delicious and sweet gifts are given not only to children. This Day is somewhat reminiscent of Valentine's Day and is a great occasion to express respect with a box of chocolates or tender and friendly feelings with a set of sweets, and perhaps confess your love by giving a rose and chocolate.
