This October I ‘ve given an eco-lesson to my 7th grade pupils. The handout materials were offered by “Sibur” company in order to spread this stuff among the teenagers. The quiz is connected to recycling and responsible consumption. It appeared to be the difficult topic for children. They have so few information about ecology and recycling, even in Russian. They tried themselves as journalists, eco-activists and a recycling company; in teams they answered questions, found associations, read articles and gave them titles, put pictures to the right container. But the main thing is, I believe, they started thinking about responsible consumption and recycling their garbage. The vocabulary of the quiz is perplexed for them, but children show their interest in this topic, ask questions. That’s actually great!
I consider it’s crucial to pay attention to the environmental problems, especially among teenagers. Having the information about the ecological problems and their solutions, they will be able to influence the future. I’m sure this eco-lesson was useful and not the last one.
