Description: There are some people who say the Bible is a “nice” book, but that it is full of myths and legends. Did the events the Bible talks about really happen? Is there evidence that walls really fell down, that kings ruled in Israel, and that Jesus truly existed? Join us as we study people, places, and events that the Bible talks about through the lens of archaeology. We will look at physical evidence that supports what Scripture lays out and, in so doing, give us greater confidence in trusting God and what He has done in people’s lives throughout history.
Grades: 6th-8th
Length: Year, it is acceptable for students to leave or enter the class at semester.
Homework: Reading excerpts from the Bible so that they have more background when they come to class will be very helpful. There will likely be 15-20 minutes of reading during the week.

Students will also learn how to stay calm under pressure, assess a situation safely, and take appropriate action while waiting for adult or professional assistance. Through interactive activities, demonstrations, and real-life scenarios, students will build confidence and develop critical thinking skills that can help them care for themselves and others.

Description: This will be a fun class learning all about babysitting for a range of ages and stages of development! We will learn all the basics of how to best watch over the children in our care (child safety, feeding, diapering, dressing, entertaining, etc.). We will also learn how to set up a babysitting business (setting yourself apart from other sitters, rates to charge, marketing your business, what you need for each babysitting job, etc.).
We will then put our skills to practice with some “hands on” training by occasionally working in Co-op’s nursery/pre-K/Kindergarten rooms during our class time. We also intend to find a CPR training course (hopefully though, it will be a CPR/First Aid training course) with which students in the class will have the opportunity to attend and become certified while training with their friends! This training will be optional and will be an additional cost. There is no required textbook, although we can share recommended babysitting resource books.
The $25 Class Fee will cover class supplies for lessons and “surprise” babysitting bag that each student will be given at the end of the semester); Optional costs: Babysitting Books & CPR or CPR/First Aid Training Course (The Georgetown Fire Department offers a CPR class for $35 or a CPR & First Aid class for $60 per person).
