Due to the ongoing global pandemic, our English assemblies have been recorded with subtitles and then played to students each Friday morning. Some students are able to watch on “the screen” in the hall and others in their classrooms on the interactive smartboards. We will also broadcast some English Morning Assemblies live in the future. Students will certainly learn much more due to the spontaneity.
We are still able to use the internal PA system to introduce the assembly theme and any announcements. We have play English songs on Friday. With various measures and activities in place, we hope students will be able to learn English in an enjoyable and effective manner.
Student Reflections:

As one of the Head English Ambassadors, I am responsible for hosting the English Morning Assemblies. At first, I was a bit scared and my voice was not loud enough. With teachers’ encouragement and peer support, I was able to speak much more loudly and clearly. I hope more English Ambassadors will help make morning announcements in English.

It gives me great pleasure to be one of the Head English Ambassadors this year. I enjoy holding the English Morning Assemblies because I can practise my spoken English. For example, in the first English Morning Assembly, I interviewed two new English teachers and they shared some useful tips on English learning. I’d like to thank my teachers for giving me the opportunity to help with this.
