To broaden students’ horizons and enhance students’ confidence in using English, 61 students from S.1-S.5 attended the HKU Summer English Programme in July 2021. They interacted with HKU exchange students through Zoom seven times in July in preparation for the group presentation on 29 July 2021.
29 July 2021 was a big day for all the 61 students because it was the first time they gave a group presentation at the Lecture Theatre of Run Run Shaw Tower of the University of Hong Kong. It was an amazing and memorable experience for all of them. After the presentation session, the members of each group received a certificate presented by the Programme Director of Nurturing Global Leaders and the Director of the Centre for Applied English Studies of the University of Hong Kong.
Through actively participating in Extended Learning Activities (ELA), we believe that students will gradually develop a keen interest in learning English and be able to communicate confidently in the English language.

I was so happy to have joined this programme, in which I learnt so many new words. I spoke in front of many people and I hope I can go there again next time. Thank you teachers for making my summer time great!

It was a privilege for me to go to HKU and present the group project with my groupmates. It was an enjoyable and memorable experience. The campus of the University of Hong Kong is so big that I could not visit every part of it. If this event is held again next year, I will definitely join it.
