Lihini Regiform

The regiform plant is operated under the name, Lihini Shrimp Exports which specializes in the manufacturing of polystyrene products and has grown into a well-recognized company in Sri Lanka, employing approximately 50 staff members. While it currently serves the local market, the company is actively working towards expanding its presence internationally.

Lihini Shrimp Exports implements the FSSC 22000 Version 5 management system primarily across its manufacturing processes for both direct and indirect food contact packaging materials. These include polystyrene boxes and sheets that are supplied to the fish, fruit, and vegetable sectors and ornamental pillars used in the confectionery industry. The key processing steps covered under this system include the importation and storage of resin beads, bead pre-expansion using steam and air, aging in silos, moulding, finishing, storage, and dispatch of the final products. The moulding process involves the use of steam and cooling water, while air is utilized to agitate the beads during the expansion phase.
