Hello, my curious followers,
Good morning! This morning, we got up very late. Also, I was very tired to get out of my warm bed, but the food comes first, so I got up. We ate breakfast with other guests who also stayed in our hotel. Our hotel is almost like an apartment, so we had to eat and sleep in different rooms from them. We felt awkward at first, but later we got used to it. We just had to eat our breakfast and then get ready for our day.
We hopped on our bus, and it was so different from others because it’s very old, and there's no AC for every seat, just a front and back that’s all, also there are only 4 fans for us. We had to accept hard, then we drove to Oral School for the Deaf Children. There are only 60 students total, meaning the school is very small and in the building. I learned that the school used American Sign Language, then later India wanted to change to their own language. This school now uses both ASL and ISL, so when we met them, I did not struggle very much to understand them because they have some knowledge of ASL. We chatted with them and answered some of their questions, and also got to know them too. When it was almost time to leave, we gave them TSD pencils and stickers. They showed us their students’ art, and we all bought them because they are very artistic. The students and teachers were very happy, and I am very glad that we can make them happy. Then it was time for us to leave for the next school, so we said goodbye before we left.
We went to Anwesha school, it’s a very small school compared to the first school we visited today, there were only 30 students, and I learned that the school is a private school and gets no government funds. We met some of the students, and there was one boy who wrote a book about his feelings about being deaf, and he wanted to sell them, so some of us bought from him. We stayed for some coffee and tea for a few minutes. We met a man who sponsored the school. He showed us a video of the history of the school. Before we left, we gave them pencils and stickers. Unfortunately, there will be no school to visit for the rest of the trip.
We went to the mall to get our lunch/dinner, and we were very full from the meal. It was very delicious, but we were not full for dessert, so some of us got ice cream and smoothies. A deaf family wanted us to stop by at their house. We stopped by and chatted for a short time. The wife showed the jewelry and bracelets that she made, and some of us bought them. Also, her husband was an artist, so he made some magnets and some big artworks. So, some of us also got magnets. When it got late, we had to leave. I definitely enjoyed the time with them. At the hotel, Jennifer wanted us to play a traditional International Studies game, which is a lip-reading game. We played and laughed, but we had to stay quiet because there were some guests staying in the apartment. We had so much fun. Some of us were so competitive just to win the game. After the game, we had showers and went to bed.
Good night and stay updated!
