Welcome back, curious folks!!
Que pasa!! Today is the day we were looking forward to the Amazon River! We got up pretty early, and then we got our breakfast from the hotel. It was so amazing, and they had mangos. Finally, a hotel had them, and Jami and I were so excited. Anyway, we got our travel backpack and day backpack ready to go to the Amazon River. We met our tour guide, Daniel, and our interpreter, Loila. It was so nice to have someone who could sign clearly.
We hopped in the van, and it took us about 3 hours to get to the port. We stopped at some places so Daniel could explain the history of the Amazon River to us. We already learned most of them yesterday. The closer we get to the river, the hotter it gets. We arrived at the port, and a nice man took our backpacks and put them in the boat. So we don’t have to carry it all the way. Our faces were excited when we saw a small boat. We had done all the transportation, including the train, bus, walk, airplane, and boat! We boated for about 45 minutes, but we enjoyed it a lot. We felt the wind and splash of water on us.
We arrived at our hotel, and we noticed that there were a lot of bugs on the net everywhere. Obviously, it’s that serious. We ate a quick lunch. Then, we went to our rooms. When I went into my room, I noticed that my room had five beds. I was like, let’s get whole girls and sleep in the same room. We agreed so all of the girls moved to my room. It’s nice to have all of us in one “house” so we can play games, have girls talk, and be together. Our hotel lobby had a ping-pong table, so we played for a long time. It was fun; then, it was time for adventure.
Daniel provided us with a rain boot because he said it would be muddy and wet. We put on rain boots, and it was very uncomfortable. Unfortunately, Kaelyn and I did not have the right size shoes. Size 9 was too big for us, and size 8 was too small for us. We had to go with size 9. We boated to a place where we hiked; it was only a 2-minute boat ride. We walked through the jungle. It was very green through the jungle, and we saw different plants, trees, and cute flowers. Sadly, we didn’t see any animals except for Jami and Sean. Thank god we had the rain boots because it was too slippery and muddy. We walked through the river, too. We arrived at the end, with a huge tree. The tree is 300 years old and can last to 800 years old. It was already so huge and only 300 years old. We walked pretty long; then Daniel told us to return the same way. We walked for about 15 minutes, and then we arrived at the hotel. We didn’t go boating or go through the river or anything like that. It was really tripping because everything looked so the same. We thought we went the same way, but we didn’t.
After a long hike in the jungle, we played a Winner game with all of us to kill time. We were having so much fun. Then, we had dinner at a hotel. Their rice was so good, and we were full. After dinner, we hurried to our room to have a cold shower. It was too hot and humid outside, even at night. We played some card games, then went to bed. Good night!!
Stay curious, fellows!
