Good evening, everyone!
Today was actually a simple day. We woke up around 6 a.m. and packed for our long bus ride. We also took advantage of the hotel breakfast to stuff ourselves so we wouldn’t be too hungry. We got into our van and drove to the main bus departure station. Our tour guide, Lidia, practically took care of all the ticketing and baggage processes.
Once we all got outside and saw the bus, we were surprised at how huge it was! I honestly was expecting a bus slightly bigger than our yellow school bus. The inside was even better; the chairs were huge, and the number of people on our bus was small, so we all got our double chairs. The chairs also reclined back more than double how much you can in an airplane. I’m not kidding; it felt like I was sitting on a pillow chair. That’s how comfortable it was. As you can imagine, we all slept very well on the bus.
The bus ride was around 7 hours long, but the beautiful scenery made it feel like a short ride. The scenery was beautiful, from green mountains with the sun shining through to the unique and diverse urban areas. There were so many sheep and alpacas roaming around, too. There were so many mountains in the distance with snow on the peak, and it was amazing to see. When we passed small cities, there would be a lot of locals selling local foods. It’s super cool to see how unique each city was. After that bus ride, I might skip out on planes from now on. I personally slept a lot on that bus since it was a nice opportunity to refresh from the limited sleep in the past week.
Once we arrived, we met our new driver and hopped in the van to our Airbnb. The Airbnb was lovely, with three stories and several Peruvian decorations all around. The owner offered us cocoa tea, and we all took that opportunity.
We then headed out to get local brasa chicken. This one was different; Jennifer highly recommended this place. I’m not kidding; Jennifer talked about this chicken place nonstop in class. Once I took a bite of that chicken, I instantly understood why she would not stop talking about it. It was the best chicken I have ever had in my entire life. My mom makes some killer chicken, but this one definitely tops it. Sorry mom! We all thought the chicken was good; some liked the other place, but most of us loved this one better. We then went back to our Airbnb and got ready for bed.
Goodnight, everyone.
