First and foremost, I am truly honoured to have been chosen to Judge the 2024 National Master Hunt Test and wish to thank our Hunt Test Community for their confidence in me.
I currently reside in Waterdown, Ontario with my 2 Golden Retrievers, Porter and Shelby, and my Labrador Retriever, Idgie. Over the years we have competed in Obedience, Scent, Hunt and Field Trial events. I am happy to report that we have titled at various levels including Master Hunter, National Master Hunter and FTCH.
I started training my dogs for field 30 years ago and began Judging Field Events close to 20 years ago. Field is my passion, so much so, that I began breeding field bred golden retrievers and Labrador retrievers under the Tealgrove Kennel Name 12 years ago.
I have served as Hunt Chair for LOC, Hunt Test Secretary for various Clubs, Committee Member for two National Field Events and currently I am the Club Secretary for the Horseshoe Hunting Retriever Club. In 2023 I was asked to take part in the committee that brought the Retriever Trials back to the Canadian National Sportsman Show and continue today in this role.
I wish everyone the best of luck this summer and looking forward to seeing everyone in PEI in August!

I am thrilled to be judging the Canadian National Master again in Prince Edward Island. Having grown up in New Brunswick and studying at the Atlantic Veterinary College it is nice to be “coming home”.
My husband and I have been breeding Labradors for 30 years under the Cedarbrae prefix. We are on our fourth generation of home bred and trained GMH Labradors.
I have been training and judging for over 20 years and love to watch the relationship between handler and dog showcasing what retrievers were born and bred to do. Every fall we hunt over our dogs for both upland and waterfowl and appreciate the diverse skills these dogs have.
I look forward to meeting many new handler/dog teams during the event and watching their
skills being showcased over the week. I know that along with my co-judges Geoff Plouffe and
Jill Chalmers we will provide realistic and challenging hunting scenarios for the teams during the
week.

I am humbled and honored to have the opportunity to judge at the 2024 Canadian National Master Hunt test in Prince Edward Island (PEI).
I have been involved in hunting and training retrievers since 1987 when my wife and I purchased a dual purpose golden retriever for show and hunting. As my first retriever, I marveled at the instinctual abilities as we attained our first WCX. With a break to raise 3 amazing children and a shift to Labrador Retrievers I continue to realize the potential of what a hunting companion can be. Now after 37 years I have experience at the National Master Hunt test level with MH, NMH and GMH titles. I have embraced the opportunity to judge as I feel it allows me to become a better handler as I meet so many dedicated sportsmen and women from across Canada.
Being an avid waterfowl and upland bird hunter, I believe the hunt test should be set up to simulate true hunting situations which showcase the unbelievable instincts and abilities of these canine athletes.
I look forward to my time in PEI with my co judges Tracy and Jill for what I believe will be an fantastic opportunity to witness these dogs and handlers strive to qualify at the National level.
I would also like to the thank the PEI Retriever club, volunteers and sponsors that make events like this possible.
