Day 3 – Sponsored by Catherine Veysey in memory of GMH Magnificent Murphy TDX WCX RE CGN
The weatherman was forecasting rain today, but the retriever gods smiled on us and we enjoyed a cool overcast day… perfect for running dogs!
Today the judges setup a simulated pheasant hunt in a fallow field of long grass and goldenrod. The dogs were asked to hunt the field, locate and flush a pheasant. When the dogs flushed the bird a shot was fired at by a designated gunner. After flushing the pheasant, the working dog was asked to continue hunting for approximately another 50 yards.
Work in this series was generally good and at days end all dogs were called back to the Day 4 land marks and blind. Dog # 37 will start Day 4."
