Karen M. La Paro

Karen M. La Paro, PhD, is a Professor of Human Development and Family Studies in the School of Health and Human Sciences at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.  Dr. La Paro’s research interests include assessing the quality of early childhood classrooms, teacher candidates’ experiences in teacher preparation programs, the relationship between practicum students and cooperating teachers, teacher language use in the classroom, and teacher beliefs and attitudes. She has served as a PI and CoPI for both state and federally funded grants to support the development of effective early childhood teachers. She served as the editor of the Journal of Early Childhood Teacher Education for eight years.
