Google My Maps is a lightweight mapping platform that allows you to build maps with your own content stored in Google Drive. You can keep your map private, share it with collaborators, and if you wish, make it public. Google My Maps does not have 3D imagery and does not have Street View. My Maps can be embedded in your website and made public on the internet.
You'll need to use a desktop or laptop computer to create a My Maps (on mobile devices you can view content created in Google My Maps by opening your My Maps using the Google Maps app, but you can't edit the My Maps on a mobile device).
Connect your computer to the internet.
Open a web browser and go to https://drive.google.com/
Sign in with your Google account or create a Google Account.
Use the instructions below to go to the group's Google My Maps.
Look at Suza's and Robin's maps to see what we will be creating.
Click "Add Layer" and give it a name. When you are working in your layer you will see a blue bar on the left hand side.
Use your group's Jamboard to add content to your layer. You can add points, lines and polygons; give the place markers a title, type in the description box, add photos and YouTubes.
Think about how you will use the locations to tell your story on the map. Switch to preview mode to give your presentation.
