Compete for the honor of being Trimaris’ cut and thrust champion until the next Coronation.
This tournament will be preceded by the "Introduction to Cut and Thrust for the Beginner and the Curious" class.
We would like to have a different format to this year’s Queen’s heart tournament. When we decided to fight in crown, one of our goals was to bring together the rapier community with the heavy in order to begin establishing ONE Trimarian army. We are all warriors of Trimaris and we seek to protect our Kingdom and the beloved populace with our own specialized skills and talents.
We would like to take this opportunity at our coronation to hold a tournament that provides us each with a champion and a guard, from each of the fighting styles. First, a heavy lyst, then a rapier. The winner of the heavy will become the King’s champion and second place will become the Queen’s guard. The winner of the Rapier Lyst will become the Queen’s champion and the second place will become the King’s guard. These 4 warriors will stand with the Champion of Trimaris as the Royal Guard. The two lyst will not be held at the same time to allow all cross overs to participate in both competitions if they wish. The winners of the heavy lyst will be notified as soon as the points are tallied, and they are not allowed to compete in the next tournament. The 4 winners will be announced to the Royal Guard during court.
The format we have chosen is a Round Robin, Tournament style. The fighters will line up. The first fighter will enter the fighting arena and take on each of the other fighters one at a time for one fight. They will move immediately on to the next combatant. Wounds are not retained. For each victory, the combatant receives 2 points and each loss they receive 1 point. Each combatant will have fought every person in the tournament 2 times. When the last person in the line has served their turn in the arena, the tournament ends and the points will be tallied.
Should there be more than 16 combatants that enter the list, the format will be changed to a 45-minute traditional Bear Pit style Lyst. The combatants will still receive 2 points for a victory and 1 point for a loss. This will still allow each combatant to have not only his or her skill challenged, but also their endurance but this lyst will not subject anyone in the kingdom to more than 16 fights in a row if their endurance and skill does not allow them to. There will be no limit to how long a fighter can maintain the pit through victory.
We both ask for your patience as we try a new twist on a long-standing tradition. We hope this tournament offers a fun test of the skill and endurance of the fighters of Trimaris. We look forward to a united Royal Guard made up of the Defenders of the Heart of Trimaris.
Always for the Love of Trimaris,
Sir Valbrandr
