Rangahau is considered to be a way of conducting research with a Te Ao Maori lense. This is different to the English word "research", which "carries with it western cultural assumptions" (twoa.ac.nz, 02.05.21).
"It draws on a range of influences such as:
historical Māori experiences with, and perceptions about research,
Māori perspectives about the world,
Māori values and expectations around ethics,
Māori cultural values and practices,
Māori knowledge,
The place and status of Māori people, language and culture in society and the world"
(rangahau.co.nz, 02.05.21)
I will be doing this Rangahau in 3 sections:
Te Kore
Te Po
Ao Marama
These are linked to the "three states of evolution or progression of creation" which originate from Maori mythology (maaori.com, 03.05.21).
