GENERAL
Aurel Lazar Secondary School is an educational institution with 37 teachers located in the centre of Oradea - a town in the western part of Romania. The 457 students aged 10-18 are organized in 19 classes disposed on two levels: lower secondary and upper secondary with theoretic branches. The school provides good learning facilities for the students and organizes a range of extra-curricular activities. Some of the missions of our institution are: to shape cooperative, understanding, active students and staff with a knowledge of European realities; to provide students with abilities to be competitive and sustainable in a permanent changing Europe and to uncover their capacity to manage great works of self and team. The school is open to the realities of the region and it aims at trying to prepare the students to be active European citizens who live and will work in a multicultural and multilingual European environment.
MOTIVATION
The school board, the students' council and the parents' association strongly support the European activity of the school as our town is situated on the western border of the country and contacts with foreigners are frequent. By strengthening the European dimension the institution can more easily equip students with social, civic, language and entrepreneurship competences in order to be successful in life, and a proper behaviour when understanding the codes of conduct and customs in different cultures.
The flow of foreign investors is increasing. In the last few years many graduates have chosen to attend the Economics Faculty with the hope to find a job in the field. So, it is vital for our students to have good knowledge in the area of business with special attention on the development, organization and management of a business or work with entrepreneurs; to be proficient users of foreign languages especially when using English outside school; to have European behaviours when in touch with foreigners. The students' active involvement in the project activities will help them: enrich knowledge about partner countries and their business opportunities; develop good communication skills; exchange ideas and experience with foreigners - students, teachers, businessmen/entrepreneurs and other people; widen their cultural horizon; have first-hand contacts with the European reality in general and the business domain in special; feel Europeans.
