on Google Classroom (ensure you are signed in with a personal Google Account as the connection will not work if you are signed in under a school board account)
Rover Scouts are boys and girls aged 18-26 years. They are interested in self-discovery through adventure. They team with other like-minded young people to explore how they can fit and contribute as members of their community. Personal Development Plans are a general framework that a Rover will use to guide their path to specific goals with the support of a mentor. The motto for Rover Scouts is: Go Beyond.
Scout and Older Motto: Be Prepared
Scout and Older Law: A Scout is helpful and trustworthy, kind and cheerful, considerate and clean, wise in the use of all resources.
Scout and Older Promise: On my honour; I promise that I will do my best; To do my duty to God and the King; To help other people at all times; and to carry out the spirit of the Scout Law. OR On my honour; I promise that I will do my best; To respect my country and my beliefs; To help other people at all times; and to carry out the spirit of the Scout Law.
Camping
Rover Scouts will have a chance to attend at least 1 virtual at home camp per year where they will interact online with their Scouters and peers, while completing specific activities, hikes and other events with their family. They will also have an opportunity to camp in-person at composite camps and as Offer of Service.
Scout Truck Competition
Rover Scouts join Scouts in the fun of the Scout Truck Races. Races take place mid to late February or March. All youth will receive a truck kit. Time for designing the Truck will be given at a meeting. Depending on the tools available at home for each youth, help will be provided to shape the vehicle. Time will then be given in a meeting or two in order to assemble and decorate the Truck. We will then have an opportunity to race the trucks in-person. Travelling may be required, but we will find the closest races available to each of your home locations.
Fundraising
Rover Scouts are encouraged to do their best to help with our fundraisers throughout the year. This helps keep costs as low as possible and enable us to book special virtual meetings and other items with extra costs. In-person camp costs are in addition to previous funds and fees collected and your support in fundraising will help lesson these costs.
