About Us:

1st Ontario Virtual is a Scout Group serving youth unable to attend in person meetings. We meet online, using Google Classroom.  Please note you must sign in with a personal Google account as the link we provide will not work if you are signed in under a school board account. 

Join us for a fun program that helps build a sound foundation for life. There is a strong group of well trained and enthusiastic Volunteer Leaders who provide stimulating programs for the Youth every week.

Our program is run based on the youth we have in the group and their interests and ability levels. As a result, our program is always changing. At our meetings, we teach the skills the youth are interested in and then invite them to explore that concept during the week with their family. Youth present what they learned using pictures and videos at another meeting. We also have meetings with online visits from scientists, cooking meetings, crafts, exploring badge work, first aid, etc. We learn life skills that will help make our Youth better citizens.

Our History:

1st Ontario Virtual Scouting evolved out of the requirement for all work, school and extra-curricular activities to be help online during the Covid-19 pandemic in the spring of 2020. After lock down lifted, many groups returned to in-person meetings, however, there was still a fundamental need for virtual scouting for people who do not live in the area of an in-person group or for people who are not comfortable with in-person meetings. Hence the origination of the Ontario Virtual group to help fulfil this need and ensure Scouting is available to all youth and adult volunteers. It took about a year to get all the appropriate Scouts Canada approvals, banking information, a Group Commissioner, a Group Committee, section Scouters organized and we were officially able to begin recruiting youth in March 2022.
