The project “Ethics and Values in educational data-driven practices: Conceptual, Methodological and Pragmatic Explorations” funded by the Swedish Research Council aims to explore the growing datafication of the education sector through critical, creative, and proactive approaches with an outlook from the Nordic countries.
To this end, the first two-day workshop will be held on May 5th and 6th 2022 at VIA University College in Aarhus, Denmark, and will consist of a blend of keynote presentations, paper presentations, and discussions among participants. The number of participants is limited to app. 10 senior scholars in order to establish a dynamic and productive format.
We have singled out a range of concepts that will be central for exploring ethics and values in educational data-driven practices. These are – but are not limited to: practices, care, imaginaries/imagination, aesthetics, and Bildung. We encourage participants to draft and present a short position paper (no longer than 2-3 pages) that reflects on the importance and implications of these (or other suggested) concepts for the study and practice of data- and technology-mediated forms of educational practices. The overall research question guiding the workshop is:
Which concepts and notions support nuanced discussions about values reflected in emerging educational sociotechnical imaginaries?
