A solo performance that tells the story of an unnamed demolition worker’s death through shadows, light, objects, and restrained poetic language.
"The old house has been stripped of . We've torn out the door frames and window frames, demolished the walls, and removed the tile, toilet, and sink from the bathroom. The floor is now covered with shattered and broken pieces. The smell of ginkgo fruit clings to our sweat-soaked work clothes—not just mine, but also to the foreman's, Tzuong's, and everyone else's. "

Synopsis
Yoon-ho is a demolition worker who moves from site to site around the Gyeonggi area. His mornings begin as usual. The sites are always old, empty houses or abandoned lots. He tears down the remains of old homes — erasing them without a trace. One day, while dismantling another house, a phone call comes. It’s from the hospital. Hearing the voice on the other end, Yoon-ho feels his chest sink. Beside him stand two others: his foreman, and Trương, a migrant worker from Vietnam.
"It’s late evening. The shape moving around inside the house casts a
deep shadow on the veranda window. The shadow sways and flickers. I
pick up the TV remote controller, but after a deep sigh, I set it back
down on the table. I head toward the kitchen. Beyond the dining table,
the view outside the window is dark, with only the solitary traffic lighton the road blinking. Against the backdrop of the indifferent blinking
light, a single banana on the table melts and drips, overwhelmed by its
own sweetness. The peel is burst wide open, and the yellow flesh is
starting to mold. Through the gap in the peeling skin, a sweet smell like
that from a mosquito coil rises up, dark and yellow. It seems that black
is not something that only exists in the view outside the window. A
single phone call during the day has kept me from sleeping. It’s a night
when a banana burns and smolders."
This work focuses on the expansion of space. It is an attempt to call back the people and occupations that were once invisible, the forgotten places and presences that have faded from view. It gently unfolds the sensations of objects — those that existed within times and spaces once present but never recognized. Through the expansion of miniatures, the traces of what has vanished, the people who undeniably existed, and the places no one ever paid attention to are brought into light once again. The shadow is that very trace — silent, yet undeniably there. It is a journey that follows the path of an existence that once was.
The technical rider and detailed information about the performance will be uploaded later.
