DAY 8 - Friday 17th May, 2024
ROUTE
Into Week Two and one of my favourite places to run, Richmond Park.
I had entered and initially planned to run the official Richmond Park Half Marathon on Sunday 19th May, but the race got postponed due to a 'clash of events' in the park. However, I couldn't miss this one out, so I will be taking on the dirt tracks and pathways of one of London's most prestigious parks on Day 8 of the challenge.
One full loop of the park and two smaller ones, taking in the breathtaking scenery as I go.
RUN DETAILS
Actual Distance: 13.11 miles
Half Marathon Time: 1 hr 43 mins 06 secs
Blister Count: +0 = 6 (no change)
RUN REPORT
Oh deer, oh deer (🦌)… today’s half, around the stunning Richmond Park, was one I was both looking forward to and dreading at the same time.
It would appear I was right second time! Hot, exposed, hilly, trails and very little in the tank.😩 The only word to describe today’s run, would be TOUGH! Very tough!! And if I’ve ever felt like I’ve earned just a fraction of your generous donations, then today was the day.
Before undertaking this 13 in 13 Challenge, I was fully prepared for it to hurt at certain points - to potentially really hurt. But, that doesn't mean that every run was going to be enjoyable, and despite this being one of the most incredible places to have the opportunity to run in South West London, it would be an understatement to say that I did not enjoy this one. It took a lot more out of me than I was expecting. But, feeling much better after a bath, foam roll and food. Another half in the bag. Now for an early night in preparation for #9 tomorrow.
Thanks as always for following and for the support!!
