DC TUITION ASSISTANCE PROCESS
Tuition Assistance (TA)
DC TA applications must be turned in at least 30 days prior to the start date of the course(s).
The DC Government office will not reimburse Service member for any cost paid by the Service member.
STEP 1
Member e-mail following required items to ng.dc.dcarng.list.per-edu@army.mil (include “DC TA” in subject line)
· DCNG Form 10-02-1 (Complete TA Application, member sign, commander sign ) attached
· State TA Statement of Understanding (Member sign) attached
· Cost verification from school (displays courses, tuition cost and fees)
· Degree Plan
· FED TA cost summary (if applicable)
STEP 2
Ed Office/AF POC sends approved TA Purchase Order (PO) to member via email address on TA application
STEP 3
Member takes PO and approved DCNG Form 10-02-1 to their school (member should see their VA Rep). Member is good to go, rest is between school and DC Gov’t Office.
STEP 4 (FYI/FYSA)
School sends invoice to DC Gov’t Office for payment…
Authorized TA rate
The total amount of Tuition Assistance each Service member
may receive will NOT EXCEED $12,000 per Fiscal Year (FY). Service members may
receive up to $12,500 in DC TA (if maxing all fees), or up to 100 percent of tuition
and/or authorized fees.
· TA can only be used for AFSC related degree plans
· Must be a satisfactory RSD participant
· Service members may use Federal TA and DC TA concurrently
· In cases where Service members are eligible for Pell Grants or loans, DC TA funds may be used concurrently
· The Montgomery GI Bill Chapter 1606 may be used concurrently
· The Montgomery GI Bill Chapter 30 and Post 9-11 (Chapter 33) GI Bill may be used concurrently with DC TA funds.
TA can be used for
· Academic certs
· Associates
· Baccalaureate
· Master’s
· First Professional degrees (i.e. Juris Doctor, PhD...)
· Continuing Education Units (CEU). Courses leading to State education credentials
· Undergraduate or graduate prerequisite courses for enrolling in a BA or MA degree…
TA unauthorized uses
· Lower or lateral degrees if the member has previously utilized DC TA to obtain that level of degree.
· Certifications
· Licensure
· Fees that are not required for enrollment in a given course
· Preparatory course for college or graduate admission testing (SAT, GRE, LSAT)
