ZOOM Interactions
I respectfully ask all students to follow the following throughout any ZOOM interactions such as attending proctored exams, office hours, and/or tutoring sessions:
Treat the Zoom Interactions appropriately.
Review course material: power-points, notes, videos and homework so that you are ready to ask questions and converse about course content.
Sign into each ZOOM meeting using the ZOOM link within each week's announcement.
Be sure to sign in using your first and last name, no nicknames, or you won't be allowed in.
Since I use a waiting room for my office hours, I need to be able to recognize your name to admit you into the session.
If you use a preferred name or any other name than what is on your student record (e.g. borrowing a family member's computer) for Zoom please let me know through a PRONTO message or email so that I can recognize you and admit you into the session.
Show up on time.
During ZOOM interactions, I prefer your video to be on with your face showing: no ceilings, empty chairs, etc.
To establish that a student is present and engaged, I require that you show a live environment, which means I should not be seeing ceilings, empty chairs, etc.
In order for us to have a meaningful/helpful/useful office hour, I prefer cameras to be on and that you are actively engaged. This is so that I can use visual cues to gauge student understanding, student confusion, students writing, students finishing a problem, etc.
Crafton Hills College is offering Chromebooks with a camera and mic to students who need them: https://www.craftonhills.edu/current-students/library
You may want to use a visual background if you don’t want others seeing your car, work area, living space, and/or family members especially if there are minor children. How to use a virtual background in Zoom.
Students may submit concerns about using a camera to me via email.
As part of our efforts to maintain student privacy, students are prohibited from recording lectures without the expressed consent of the instructor.
Students may not post any recording containing other students and instructor names, images, or audio outside of the course.
