Swim Workouts (not updated for 2021). Swimming workouts (optional) will depend on availability of the VHS pool.
School Week 1: August 23-28
Monday: Arroyo Verde Park starts at 6:00 PM. Pick up around 8:00
Tuesday: San Pedro Street: Practice starts at 6:00, pick up around 7:30
Wednesday: First day of school. Practice starts at 2:15. Pick up at FTHS around 5:00-5:15. Swimming possibly at VHS or Buena
Thursday: Practice at Foothill starts at 2:15. Pick up at FTHS around 4:30.
Friday: Practice starts at 2:15 at Foothill. Pick up at FTHS around 4:30. Swimming possibly at VHS
Saturday: Long run at either Sycamore or Harmon Canyon
School Week 2: August 30-Sept 4
Monday: At FTHS: Practice starts at 2:15. Pick up at FTHS at 4:30 Hills and pace.
Tuesday: At FTHS: Practice starts at 2:15. Pick up at FTHS at 4:30 Hills and pace
Wednesday: At FTHS: Recovery. Practice starts at 2:15. Pick up at FTHS at 4:30.
Thursday: At FTHS: Premeet workout.
Friday: Cool Breeze Invitational at the Rose Bowl, Pasadena. Bus for JV races leaves at 10:30 AM. Vans for varsity races leaves at 3:00 PM
Saturday: Shake out run on own.
School Week 3: Sept 6-11
Monday: Labor Day practice will be at 9AM at Patagonia. Should be done by 10:15.
Tuesday: Pace and hill day: Pick up at FTHS around 4:30.
Wednesday: Pace and hill day: Pick up at FTHS around 4:30.
Thursday: At FTHS: Recovery. Practice starts at 2:15. Pick up at FTHS around 4:30
Friday: Premeet workout from FTHS. Pick up at FTHS around 4:00
Saturday: Ojai Invitational. Leave time from FTHS 6:45 am.
School Week 4: September 13-18
Monday: Recovery run day. Pick up at FTHS around 4:30.
Tuesday: Pace and hill day. Pick up around 4:30pm.
Wednesday: Pace and hill day: Pick up at FTHS around 4:30. Hills may go to Harmon Canyon in school vans.
Thursday: No school today. Practice at 9:00 AM at Camino Real Park. Premeet.
Friday: League Meet #1 at Camino Real Park. Be at the park by 2:00 PM. Team function afterwards at Pizza Chief.
Saturday: Long run at Foster or Sycamore
School Week 5: September 20-25
Monday: Pace and hill day- Hills group will go to Harmon if we can get the vans. Pace group should be done by 4:30. Hills should be done by 4:45 to 5:00.
Tuesday: Pace and hill day- both groups will be done by 4:30
Wednesday: Recovery workout with bands- practice should be done by 4:30
Thursday: Picture Day and Premeet. Athletes should bring their uniform to school today for their photos and get dressed at lunch. Order forms for photos are here. Pick up at FTHS around 4:30 depending on how long the picture takes.
Friday: Raider Invitational at College Park in Oxnard. First race at 1:35pm-Bus leave time at 11:30. Athletes should get dressed in their uniforms at break.
Saturday: Spin-a-Thon fundraiser in Black Box at 9:00 AM. Lunch afterwards behind the Black Box. Goal is to raise $300 per athlete. Online donations can be made at this link.
School Week 6: September 27-October 2
Monday: Recovery runs or spinning at FTHS; Pick up around 4:15 to 4:30
Tuesday: Pace and hill day: Pick up at FTHS around 4:30.
Wednesday: Pace and hill day: Pick up at FTHS around 4:30.
Thursday: Tempo day at FTHS: Pick up around 4:30pm.
Friday: Pre meet day: Pick up at FTHS around 4:15
Saturday: Central Park Invitational at Central Park, Huntington Beach. Bus time TBD.
School Week 7: October 4-9—If you are running Footlocker, you should sign up using this link by the end of the week.
Monday: Pace and hill day: Pick up at FTHS around 4:30. Hills will be later than pace.
Tuesday: Premeet for some, pace for others. Also, I would like to go up to Lake Casitas and set up the course for the meet the next day. Pick up time TBD. Possible completion for the practice at 4:00 and then go up with a few people to do the course for Wednesday.
Wednesday: Twilight Invitational at Lake Casitas. The majority of athletes are competing. The Meet starts at 4:00. Bus should be back around 7:30pm. Complete Clovis group will be determined after Twilight Meet.
Thursday: Recovery at FTHS: Pick up around 4:30pm. Possible study hall for Clovis people.
Friday: A select group of athletes may go to Clovis. Depends on acceptance into the meet. Acceptance is determined by performance. Clovis folks will leave at 9am on Friday morning. Workout will be at Woodward Park in Fresno in the afternoon.
Saturday: Clovis Invitational. Others San Pedro on their own. Clovis return will depend on time of races. Most likely, the return will be around 9pm.
School Week 8: October 11-16
Monday: Pace and hill day: Pick up at FTHS around 4:30.
Tuesday: Pace and hill day: Pick up at FTHS around 4:30.
Wednesday: Recovery workout or spin: Pick up at FTHS around 4:30.
Thursday: Tempo or Recovery at FTHS: Pick up around 4:30pm.
Friday: Premeet workout. Pick up will be around 4:30 at FTHS.
Saturday: Dos Pueblos Invitational. Bus time TBD.
School Week 9: October 18-23 Last week of the quarter and the Mt. Sac Invitational on Friday.
Monday: Hills and Pace: Pick up at FTHS at 4:30-4:45. Swimming possibly at VHS.
Tuesday: Hills and Pace: Pick up at FTHS at 4:30-4:45
Wednesday: Recovery and Spin: Pick up at FTHS at 4:15-4:30. Swimming at VHS from 5:45 to 6:45
Thursday: Premeet or Recovery workout.
Friday: Mt. Sac Invitational: You are expected to be at Fall Break practice in order to compete at Mt. Sac. Bus leaves at 8:00 AM. Runners will need to make qualifying standards
Saturday: San Pedro on your own.
Fall Break Week: October 25-October 30
FALL BREAK–If you plan on going on to CIF competition, you must be at practice this week. This is a very important practice week.
Monday: Off or optional practice. If you are taking a College visit, plan for Friday through Monday off for your trip. Optional practice will be held at Arroyo Verde at 8am.
Tuesday: Morning practice at Patagonia or Sycamore.
Wednesday: Morning practice at Lake Casitas if available and VC
Thursday: Morning practice at Kimball.
Friday: Ventura County Championships at Lake Casitas
Saturday: Team run from Mira Monte School to Foster Park. Run will start at 7:30 at Mira Monte School Parking lot in Ojai. Run down the Ojai Bike Trail to Foster Park. Pick up around 9:15 at Foster Park. Brunch and Pumpkin Carving Extravaganza at Foster Park afterwards.
School Week 11: November 1-6
League finals week. Time changes on Sunday of this week.
Monday: Pace day: Pick up at 4:15 to 4:30 at FTHS
Tuesday: Recovery day/sharpen: Pick up at 4:30 at FTHS.
Wednesday: Premeet: Pick up at 4:15 to 4:30 at FTHS.
Thursday: TCAA Championships at Lake Casitas. There is a parking fee for spectators. We will need parents to help with the meet.
Friday: Costume Run event and Party. Location and pick up time to be determined.
Saturday: CIF practice: Soule Park, Ojai at Scheduled race time for the next weekend.
Sunday: Get plenty of rest. Today is the time change
School Week 12: November 8-13:
Start of CIF prelims week-- Practice times and locations to be determined. CIF people and Footlocker People keep training. Other students transfer over to CAP or winter sports. If you continue training with the team instead of going to CAP, you are expected to run Footlocker and train up to Winter Break. No exceptions if you are staying with us. Footlocker people will train after school.
CIF Practices
Monday: Viola Park-Uphill, downhill handicap mile. Leave at 8:30 AM and return to FTHS by 11. Day off of school due to celebration of Veterans Day.
Tuesday: Recovery run: Swimming possibly at VHS
Wednesday: Modified Pace at Soule Park. Workout should be done by 4:30 at latest
Thursday: Recovery run after school and should be completed by 3:30.–then Water workout at VHS.
Friday: Pre meet at Camino Real Park for racers and pace for resters. Team dinner and leave for Mt. Sac Prelims.
Saturday: Prelims at Mt. Sac: Times to be determined
School Week 12: November 15-20
Start of CIF finals week-- Practice times and locations to be determined. Footlocker follow Footlocker schedule.
Monday: Viola Park downhill mile after school. Return time scheduled for between 5:30pm and 6:00pm
Tuesday: Recovery run after school –then Water workout at VHS.
Wednesday: Soule Park–return between 5:00 and 5:30 depending on traffic.
Thursday: Recovery run after school–then Water workout at VHS.
Friday: Premeet and team dinner. Team dinner will be at location TBD. Practice will be right after school. Should be done with practice by 4:00.
Saturday: CIF Finals at Mt. Sac. Race times to be determined
School Week 13: November 22-27:
Start of State week (Thanksgiving week). Practice M-F of that week for State qualifiers. Thursday practice is optional.
Monday: Soule Park-return between 5:00 and 5:30 depending on traffic
Tuesday: Recovery run after school–then Water workout at VHS. Swimming at VHS from 5:45 to 6:45. School workout should be completed by 3:30.
Wednesday: Soule Park in the AM. Leave at 8:30 and return at 11:00am
Thursday: Swim workout at 9:15am at VHS. Alumni run. Should be done by 10:30. Time will depend on when VHS uses the pool
Friday: Leave for State: Breakfast will be at location TBD. We will leave from breakfast for Clovis.
Saturday: State Meet: Race times and awards to be determined. Return will depend on traffic and lunch stop.
School Week 14: December 1-December 6:
Start of Footlocker week: Training M-F for Footlocker participants. Footlocker at Mt Sac on Saturday.
School Week 15: December 8-13:
Beginning of rest and recovery week. National Postal 2 mile and 1 mile at Carpinteria High School on Friday, December 12. Awards presently scheduled for Wednesday, December 11.
