Orienteering is an outdoor sport that requires navigational skills using a map and compass to navigate from point to point in diverse and usually unfamiliar terrain, normally moving at a fast pace. Participants are given a topographical map, usually a specially prepared orienteering which they use to find control points.
The land navigation varies with levels of difficulty. Cadets are using their given compass and map to find the orange and white flags throughout the terrain, which may involve navigating through the woods, over hills, and rough plains.
