Mission Statement

The mission of Green Run Elementary School, in cooperation with family, community, and peers, is to prepare all students in a safe and positive learning environment to be responsible, functional, independent members of society through excellence in education.





Vision Statement

In partnership with students, parents/guardians, teachers, staff, and administrators is to deliver a comprehensive and developmentally appropriate school counseling program for Kindergarten-5th grade students. This will be accomplished within the following three domains:

  • Academic (support VBSCPS’ goal of preparing lifelong learners and workers prepared for 21st century challenges and expectations; Goal 1, 2, 4 of VBCPS strategic plan);

  • Career development (support self-identification of career goals; interpersonal and professional skill development; awareness of the global, societally, and economic trends that influence post-secondary education, training, and work; Goal 2, 4 of VBCPS strategic plan);

  • and Personal/social development (support students’ development: of tools to appropriately manage peer, familial, and interpersonal concerns; understanding of consequences and decision making; understanding and demonstration of the pillars of character/citizenship; Goal 3, 4 of VBCPS Strategic plan)

This is accomplished by collaborating and consulting with teachers, staff, administrators, parents/guardians, and the community.

Academic

GoalStudents will acquire the academic preparation essential to choose from avariety of educational, training, and employment options uponcompletion of secondary school.Grades K-3:Students will:EA1. Understand the expectations of the educational environment,EA2. Understand the importance of individual effort, hard work, andpersistence,EA3. Understand the relationship of academic achievement to currentand future success in school,EA4. Understand that mistakes are essential to the learning process,EA5.
