Hopes & Dreams/The Power of Yet. I'll be using the book, Your Fantastic, Elastic Brain! She Persisted! and Bubble Gum Brain! to introduce students to how their brain works and how a growth mindset can help their brain grow! I hope to show the importance/connection to a growth mindset and setting goals and school success!

Empathy. This month, we will be discussing Empathy. I'll be using the books, Hello, My Name is Octi and We're All Wonders to introduce students to the concept of empathy--being aware of another's feelings and experiences--"walking a mile in someone else's shoes!"

Kindness & Compassion. This month, we will be discussing Kindness and Compassion. I'll be using the books, What does it mean to be kind? and Kindness is Cooler, Mrs. Ruler, to continue speaking with students about the concept of kindness and compassion--helping others and showing that you care.

Dreams for Tomorrow. This month, we will be discussing Dreams for Tomorrow/What do you want to be when you grow up! I'll be using the book, Oh, The thinks you can think! to review with students the importance of using the power of yet and visualization as they work each day to reach future career goals!

Teamwork. Students in Kindergarten and 1st grade will read, Michael Recycles as we discuss how we can all do our part to be socially responsible citizens. Students in 2nd grade will practice collaborating with others by completing a modified STEM activity, 'Helping Harry.' Students in grades 3-4 will practice working with their classmates by completing a scavenger hunt using Google Earth. Our 5th grade students will continue the transition to middle school process by completing their Academic and Career Plans.

Pride & Celebration. During classroom lessons this month, we are reflecting upon on the school year. We are thinking about how the Power of Yet has led us to say Yes, I did!
