Inter-faculty teaching

1. The first-year students of the Faculty of Applied Sciences of the Vavuniya Campus of the University of Jaffna from 2018 onwards in the second semester of each year for four years, 2018 – 2021.  The course unit consisted of 30 hours per semester. Although these disciplines are not directly relevant to English Language Teaching and the DELT was under the Faculty of Business Studies, I volunteered.

2.  The first-year students of the Faculty of Applied Sciences of the Vavuniya Campus of the University of Jaffna from 2014 onwards in the second semester of each year till 2017.  The course unit consisted of 30 hours per semester 2014 – 2017 for four years. Although this discipline is not directly relevant to English Language Teaching and the ELTU was under the Rector, I volunteered.

12. Guest Lecturer for the Spoken English Program for the Employees of MAS Holdings Company Ltd, Kilinochchi, on 11th October 2021. It was implemented by the Rainbow Institute of Communication and English, Colombo. The inaugural guest lecture on ‘Breaking Barriers to increase Self-confidence’ for two groups in virtual mode. There were around 25 participants present in each group. 

13. Resource Person for an awareness seminar for G.C.E A/L 2021st batch Arts stream students of Vavuniya Districts, who are eligible for university admission regarding filling out University admission form, online registration and University courses and employment prospects. It was held physically (in-person) on September 13, 2022 at the University of Vavuniya. The Career Guidance Unit, University of Vavuniya, organized it. It was sponsored by Velicham Foundation, Vavuniya.

1. ‘Letter Writing Skills in English’ is a two-day workshop, Local Economic and Social Strengthening Project – Phase II for Management Staff of the Divisional Secretariat at Vavuniya Division, Vavuniya. Organized by ADRA (Adventist Development and Relief Agency, Sri Lanka) (March 10 & 12, 2020).

2. ‘Letter Writing Skills in English’, a two-day workshop, Local Economic and Social Strengthening Project – Phase II for Management The staff of the Divisional Secretariat at Venkkalacheddikulam Division, Vavuniya. Organized by ADRA (Adventist Development And Relief Agency, Sri Lanka) (January 30, 2020).

3. ‘Practical Training in Using the English Expressions in Letter Communication’, a one-day workshop, Local Economic and Social Strengthening Project – Phase II for Management Staff of the Divisional Secretariat at Nedunkerny Division, Vavuniya North. Organized by ADRA  (Adventist Development and Relief Agency, Sri Lanka), the First Day was on September 17, 2020. The Second Day was on March 16, 2021.

4. ‘Letter writing in English’ is a two-day workshop, Local Economic and Social Strengthening Project – Phase II for Management. The staff of Pachchilaipalli, the Divisional Secretariat of the Kilinochchi District.

6. ‘Summarizing Skill in the GCE A/L General English.’  Participants – the A/L students of the Vavuniya Ramabikulam Girls M.M.V, Vavuniya (2017, May 4th & 12th ).

7. ‘English Sentence Patterns in Professional Writing for Engineers,’ a workshop conducted by the Institution of Engineers (IESL) Sri Lanka, organised for the Engineers of the Mannar District. (March 27, 2021).

8. The O/L English Examination to the Selected School Students in Vavuniya District on 23rd of October 2019  from 8 am to 12 noon at Saivapragasa Ladies College, Vavuniya, jointly organized by the Zonal Education Office and the British College, Vavuniya

9. the two-day workshop on improving English Language skills by teaching professionally relevant content-based approaches on August 18th and 25th, 2019, for 12 hours at the Vallipunam village Puthukkudiyirruppu, Mullaithivu. It was a Child Fund (NGO) Program among the Pre-school Teachers.

10. The Seminar on English: Why do we need it in this Post-war Scenario?  for the A/L passed-out students following the courses of the Institute, organized by the Institute of Information Studies, Jaffna, at its premises on October 27, 2011.

11. Training Program on Effective Office Management for the Public Servants, Vavuniya District. The staff of the Vavuniya Campus conducted it for five days from 1 December 2009 to 5 December 2009. It was held at the Computer Lab Hall, Vavuniya South, MPCS Hall, Vavuniya. The topic covered was

12. ‘Academic Writing’ for the final year students of the Department of Project Management, Faculty of Business Studies, University of Vavuniya. It was conducted for four hours on the first and second day of September 2022 and four hours in September 2023)

13.‘Email Communication and Letter Writing Skills in English’ is a two-day workshop, Local Economic and Social Strengthening Project – Phase II for Management. The staff of the Divisional Secretariat at Manthai West Division, Mannar. Organized by ADRA (Adventist Development and Relief Agency, Sri Lanka) (November 17th and 18th, 2022).

14. Teaching English Literature at the O/L and A/L Education,’ a one-day workshop for the English teachers of Madhu Zonal Education Area (November 19th, 2022).
