Create a culture of proactive communication, accessible information, transparency, and availability between the Office of Human Resources and the Employees of Vassar College.
Create a Human Resources communications plan to coordinate and streamline community outreach across Human Resources knowledge areas, such as: Training and Development, Wellness, and Benefits.
Develop department to develop an engagement plan incorporating all of the items listed. Generate additional Human Resources newsletters highlighting sessions and topics. Human Resources will continue to use email management tools for communications.
Formalize proactive, positive labor relations and create consistency and transparency in Vassar’s relationships with the bargaining units on campus.
Collaborate with union leadership to resolve conflicts in a systemic and organized fashion. Establish proactive labor relations practices to build trust and foster positive employer/ union engagement.
Assess and reestablish as needed the College’s profile as a prospective and current employer; identify audiences and key themes to be addressed and implement these through web-based and other materials.
Meet with Human Resources, Communications, and CIS to create an employer brand. Create "Why I work at Vassar" videos with current employees. Expand the Employee Recognition Program to include more events throughout the year or activities to keep employees engaged.
Create and implement training sessions and resources to support supervisor success and development.
Standardize both electronic and non-electronic outreach to employees to improve equity in how Human Resources and other Vassar communications reach employees in different categories.
Formalize communication procedures in Human Resources; use current tools (Moosend, Google forms) and brainstorm possible new forms of outreach to ensure communication is as effective as possible.
Update current employee handbooks and make them accessible for all employees for reference.
Update the Auxiliary and Supervisor Employee Handbooks to ensure they are accessible and easily readable for all employees.
Update and improve the Human Resources website.
Update and add content to the Human Resources website to make it more accessible for employees so they have an easy-to-use resource for questions.
