Sky Farm LIC enjoys collaborations that help us run all aspects of our agricultural programs. These collaborators make it possible for us to have 6 beehives that produce over 60 pounds of honey a year for VBGCQ families, and three working compost bins that provide compost both to our farm and other local green spaces.
ASTOR APIARIES is an urban beekeeping business that cares for all 6 of the beehives on the farm. They also use SFLIC as a venue to conduct their Urban Beekeeping Academy, which helps trains now and future beekeepers in the city.
The honey harvested from our beehives is used during SFLIC programs and given away for free twice yearly to the families of VBGCQ.

BIG REUSE is a nonprofit that works to 'fight climate change through community-based zero waste initiatives'. They run the compost bins and composting program at SFLIC. Compost produced on our farm either goes back into our rooftop growing medium or is redistributed to other green spaces in the city by Big Reuse to help keep them happy and healthy! Big Reuse also offers volunteer days. Visit their website to learn more, link below.
